I loved the flavor of Creamsicles® as a kid…the orangy vanilla-ey taste brings back the nostalgia. Now that I’m a bit older and a LOT healthier, I don’t eat those anymore.
I still miss that particular flavor from childhood, and luckily, it wasn’t that difficult to recreate.
This works really well just as a smoothie, but you can also freeze this mixture into a popsicle and enjoy something you probably haven’t tasted in years:
Ingredients:
- 2 oranges
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 c water
Instructions:
- Peel the oranges and separate them into sections. Try as best as you can to remove the seeds!
- Throw everything into the blender. Blend for about 15-30 seconds to make sure everything is smooth!
You can add a bit of ice to this if you want a colder smoothie. Just be sure to add less water if you do this–ice melts! Make them frozen and on a stick! Just pour your blended mixture into tall glasses or popsicle molds. Then, put plastic wrap overtop and insert popsicle sticks before freezing for 2-3 hours. (Can’t imagine why you would do this in January, but, hey, whatever works!)
Or, if you need another frozen idea…throw it in an ice cream maker, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. This one is delicious! Or, just sit by the window and enjoy your orange and vanilla smoothie, dreaming of springtime. It will be here soon, I promise! In the meantime, let the positive thoughts of springtime in your head bring you as close to the real thing as possible!
